2014 promises to be a landmark year in the evolution of OJNI. When our longstanding Editor in Chief, Dee McGonigle decided to retire from OJNI, she deliberated carefully about the fate of the journal. Her first step to ensuring that the journal would continue was to approach leaders at Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) to see if they would be willing to take over the ownership of OJNI. When they agreed, she then approached me to replace her as Editor in Chief. As I humbly accepted, I knew she had left very big shoes to fill, to say the least!
We are very excited to be working with HIMSS to further develop the journal. A necessary first step has been the redesign of the OJNI site and journal platform to conform with the palette and design used by HIMSS. Over the next few months, we will continue to hone the journal in ways that will magnify the resources, research, and education provided by the authors presented in the publication.
We encourage authors to continue to submit their papers, columns, and other work focused on the place of informatics in the profession of nursing as well as the entire interdisciplinary team. Together we can help OJNI to continue to serve the profession for many years to come!
