Comparison of APA Writing Software by Abstract This paper describes computer software programs that format documents using the American Psychological Association’s style guidelines. Comparisons are for WindowsÒ based personal computers only. Software comparisons are divided into those programs that specifically format the entire paper and those that only format reference lists. There are a variety of effective programs available to assist students in writing papers using the APA guideline. Costs of the programs vary and are generally affordable. Students are advised to use these programs as an adjunct to the printed manual and not as a replacement for the guidelines.
