Marion Johnson, PhD, RN marion-johnson@uiowa.edu

Dr. Johnson is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Programs, College of Nursing, at the University of Iowa. She teaches courses in nursing administration, health policy, and health economics. Her nursing background includes positions as a staff nurse, clinical specialist in the area of neurology and neurosurgery, and clinical director at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Johnson was the principal investigator on an NINR funded study that focused on the development of a classification of nursing-sensitive patient outcomes. She is currently the principal investigator on a continuation study focusing on the assessment of measures used to evaluate patient status for the nursing-sensitive patient outcomes. Dr. Johnson has been editor of four volumes of the Series on Nursing Administration, co-editor of the book Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) that presents the results of the classification study, and has journal publications and book chapters in the area of nursing administration and patient outcomes.
